SWIMMING INSTRUCTOR


JOB DESCRIPTION


SUMMARY
To deliver effective swimming instruction to a range of swimming abilities and to communicate with other members of the swimming instruction team and supervisors to provide a coordinated swim teaching programme.


MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Assistant Swimming Teacher qualification or higher.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To deliver the agreed swimming lesson programme as part of child, adult and school swimming
lessons.
2. To plan and execute structured swimming lessons in line with the centre's swimming syllabus and best practice.
3. To ensure that all equipment needed for lessons is ready before the lesson begins and checked that it is safe and in working order.
4. To keep the pool deck tidy during lessons for health and safety reasons.
5. To record attendance and progressions made by swimmers, and recommend whether each swimmer has achieved the performance standard to move to the next ability level.
6. To cooperate with lifeguard instructions and conduct lessons within established operating procedures.
7. Full swimming teachers are expected to oversee assistant teachers providing advice and guidance where appropriate.
8. To keep up to date with best practice and legislation with swimming instruction and child protection.
9. To report maintenance issues on a daily basis.
10. To perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
11. You may be required to carry out routine duties in other areas of our operation.
12. To present a professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high standard of customer service.
13. To wear personal protective equipment relevant to the task when dealing with first aid, blood, vomit, feces, cleaning or pool chemicals.
14. Reporting any incident or accident to supervisor.
15. To perform any other duties relevant to the post.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • ability to plan schemes of work and individual lessons ability to perform effective demonstrations and use appropriate teaching points for swimming practices

Receptionist / Admin


Job Description


Summary
Your role will consist of receptionist duties and administration activities to ensure the smooth running of the Laois Leisure, Leisure Centres. Reception is the focal point for access control, cash handling, bookings, customer service and communication systems.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • To control access to the centre, taking payment for facility usage, logging member / leisure pass usage, setting up and maintaining member / leisure pass accounts, and tracking credit account charges and payments.
  • To Answer and resolve all customer inquiries via our various platforms, whilst always maintaining the highest standards of customer care.
  • To ensure all the financial aspects of the day-to-day operation are completed and in order, including cash floats (including coin reserve), shift takings and all associated
    paperwork.
  • To organise and implement systems for dealing with general administrative tasks such as bookings, messages and enquiries, contact details for correspondence, monitoring stock levels for merchandise and products, placing approved orders, checking deliveries, maintenance records, generating reports, etc. This will involve both computer and hard copy records.
  • To ensure that reception and front of house (including coffee dock) is clean, tidy and a pleasant environment for customers and staff and to keep information notices up to date throughout the centre.
  • To present a professional appearance and attitude always maintaining a high standard of customer service.
  • To perform various, administrate duties including, lodgements, invoice entry, back reconciliations, and various account relevant task as directed by the Group operations manager.
  • To report maintenance issues daily.
  • To perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • To liaise with other facility areas regarding matters arising such as security, emergencies, events, queries, information dissemination, etc.
  • To maintain reception as the central hub for information within the centre.
  • You may be required to carry out routine duties in other areas of our operations.
  • To wear personal protective equipment relevant to the task when dealing with first aid, blood, vomit, faeces, cleaning chemicals or pool chemicals.
  • To undertake other duties as may reasonably be required.
  • To report any incident or accident to supervisor and complete relevant documentation.
  • To utilise suitable equipment provided to reduce manual handling of loads.

LIFEGUARD


SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of Laois Leisure by preventing and responding to emergencies.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain a constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
2. Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
3. Always present a professional appearance and attitude along with maintaining a high standard of customer service. (Always wear correct uniform – Yellow T-shirt, Red Shorts, Appropriate Footwear, Whistle, Gloves, and Walkie-Talkie and No Jewellery (Studs Allowed), and No Long Nails)
4. Report maintenance issues daily.
5. Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
6. Prepare and maintain appropriate water testing records.
7. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
8. Wear personal protective equipment relevant to the task when dealing with first aid, blood, vomit, feces, cleaning or pool chemicals.
9. Attend Monthly staff training session.
10. You may be required to carry out routine duties in other areas of our operation.
11. Report any incident or accident to supervisor and complete relevant documentation.


MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Holder of a current relevant National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
2. Skilled in the application of lifeguarding supervision and rescue techniques.
3. Ability to attend and successfully pass lifeguard training and competency assessments on an ongoing basis.
4. Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
5. Knowledge of, and ability to carry out CPR and emergency procedures.
6. Knowledge of, and ability to carry out first aid on patrons and staff.
7. Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
8. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

Duty Manager at Laois Leisure


Job description
Laois Leisure is a sporting / recreational / educational company, which offers sporting and training opportunities to members and the Public at large. Laois Leisure-
Portarlington and Laois Leisure -Portlaoise are open for 7 days a week and up to 16 hours per day. This employment contract is based on the service calendar of the Company.


Reporting Arrangements: The Duty Manager will report to the Group Operations Manager

Lifeguard  RLSS, Water Safety Ireland, STA Purpose The Duty Manager position is a key position in Laois Leisure. The Duty Manager will contribute to the overall operation and development of Laois Leisure Ltd and will supervise staff and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • To ensure the provision of a clean, high-quality facility with exciting and innovative Leisure Centre programmes.
  • To act as a member of the Laois Leisure Management Team.
  • To ensure facilities/activities are operated in an efficient and safe manner.
  • To complete all necessary paperwork relevant to your position.
  • To deputise for the Group Operation Manager as required.
  • To identify and assess the feasibility of new activities which the Company could provide.
  • To build strong relationships with customers and employees.
  • To ensure all staff are kept informed of the Company’s activities and special events.
  • To monitor cost effectiveness, highlight and rectify areas of low performance.
  • To produce performance records, statistics, targets, and reports for programming and associated activities.
  • To assist in the marketing and publicity of all activities and events.
  • To ensure sufficient staff are available for the safe, high-quality functioning of the Company.
  • To assist in the management of any current or future award schemes
  • To teach and coach as required and generally assist with the running of events.
  • To communicate effectively through both verbal and written means with management, staff, and customers.

  • To work in the all-core job areas of the company Fitness Suite, Reception, Pool, Astro, Outdoor activities, and Pool Plant Room.

  • To perform leisure attendant duties when required.
  •  To prepare departmental budgets and adhere to approved centre budgets for your areas of responsibilities.
